Michelangelo's Gaze
The exhibition will display an important archive made of documents that belonged to Michelangelo Antonioni: photographs, manuscripts, screenplays, records of co-works and friends, prestigious letters, paintings, and several works of art made by the filmmaker… In other words, it is the documentation of a life, the life of one of the most important creator of the 20th Century.
This rich archive will be the base, in the near future, of a new Antonioni museum in Ferrara.
The reshowing in Paris of the exhibition “the look of Michelangelo”, after Ferrara and Brussels, will be the occasion to rediscover how topical the work of Antonioni is, in diverse ways: cinematic, photographical, pictorial, literary and to return this work back to its time and at the same time making it closer to visual arts of today.
The exhibition will show and compare film excerpts, photographs, writings and rare documents, notes and images.
